Your Winter Sun Wardrobe
Dark winter nights in front of the fire may be cosy enough but, if it's the warmth of sunshine that you're dreaming of, then you will be in need of a winter sun getaway. Whether you choose an adventurous African Safari or the tranquil beaches of a Caribbean island, heidi klein Co-founder, Heidi Gosman, shares her expert advice on where to holiday and what to pack.
Choose your destination:
"This year it’s Brazil,” Heidi reveals. “We are flying to Rio de Janeiro for a few nights and then on to Buzios for some beach relaxation."
Pack the right swimwear for your body type:
“Hourglass: Select a top with hidden support and low cut bottoms to emphasise a small waistline,” she explains. “Bandeau bikinis are great for emphasising the curves of a modest bust, while a halterneck is better to give support to a larger bust.
Pear: Draw the attention to the bust area and away from the bottom/hip area. Go for padded cups or subtle details on the top to create cleavage and draw the eye upward. Classic fitting bottoms are more flattering for this shape,” Heidi notes.
“Square: Go for an elegant tie-side bottom or one with subtle embellishment to give the illusion of curves. Go for a delicate bandeau with middle ties, or a bright print to complement the female form,” she reveals.
“Inverted Triangle: Balance out the shoulders by drawing the eye towards the lower part of the body. Look for hidden support like underwired bars to give lift and padded cups to provide a perfect shape,” explains Heidi. “Halter straps are good because they create the illusion of smaller shoulders. Go for bottoms that have some tie-side detail to accentuate the bottom half.
Apple: For those that carry the weight on top, the aim is to create the illusion of a waistline and a flattering slimming silhouette,” she explains. “A flattering control one-piece is ideal as it provides additional support all over, especially in the middle. A halter top with side-boning provides additional support to a larger bust area.”
Take your look from day to night:
“During the day throw on a lightweight oversized shirt over swimwear at lunch and pair with sandals, a big sunhat and sunglasses," Heidi says. "At night, transform in to a simple sundress and switch up to a pair of wedges and a chunky cuff," she continues.
Don't forget those all-important extras:
“I always pack a travel candle to spruce up the hotel room and my beauty essentials include SPF 30 sunscreen," reveals Heidi. “Make sure you pack a few good books and your favourite cashmere throw for night," she adds.
