Anya Ziourova On Party Style

We caught up with Fashion Director Anya Ziourova on set at Destination Party to chat about trends, travel and fashion…

One of the fashion industry’s key players, whether styling for Condé Nast Russia titles Tatler and Allure, jetting off to fashion cities across the world, being snapped for street style edits, or working out of her New York apartment, Anya is a major global style icon.

For Harrods Destination Party, Anya joined us in Istanbul to share her take on party season and her top tips for daytime chic.

On Party Style…
“Skinny jeans are great to show off the shape of the legs, paired with a high heel of course. I always have high heels, and I like to sometimes mix and match my look with a mini - like a tube dress. It’s nice to dress up but mostly it’s about being comfortable, too!”

On Party Beauty…
“A smoky eye is easy and it works. It’s my go-to. I like to wear it with no lip. I feel for evening make-up it’s one or the other - a strong lip or a statement eye. It’s more modern when just one is accentuated.”

On Party-Prepping…
“Sometimes I just need a quick make-up fix to get from work to a party. If I’m shooting, I can get an artist on set to quickly give me an update and I’m good to go.”

On Shoes…
“I am loving Gianvito Rossi for shoes at the moment - he’s my love affair. For day or night, the shoes always work. He just knows the foot.”

On Accessories…
“I like to mix it up a bit - it’s always different. Clutches vary a lot in my wardrobe; I tend to wear Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Chanel. Mostly quite simple and black.”

On Parties In Russia…
“In St Petersburg, people get really dressed up for party season and I love that. The style has changed a lot - there’s a lot of modern, fashion-forward girls who wear the latest styles and trends. The great thing is that the girls love to dress up, they love fashion so it’s never boring.”

On Her Style…
“My personal style is effortless, easy and modern.”

On Style Rules…
“My style rule is to not overthink it. Just go with your instinct as that normally is right for you.”

On What’s Exciting About Fashion Right Now…
“I’m excited about seeing the new designers developing big brands like Gucci and Loewe. To see how these younger designers are working with a big brand and its legacy in making it modern. That’s exciting to watch unfold.”

On Designers She’s Loving…
“There’s so many designers I love right now: Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga, Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent, Alessandro Michele at Gucci.”

On Trends…
“I tend to stay true to my style and tweak it depending on what’s current. My style rarely changes these days, I just find what works for me from each season’s collections.”

On Travel…
“I just love travelling. I love going back to Paris, it never gets old.”

On Packing For Fashion Month…
“I always carry a pair of sneakers with me because I like going to the gym. Other Fashion Month essentials include flats, heels, my Balenciaga biker jacket and Frame skinny jeans.”

On The Shows…
“I have such a busy schedule. When it comes to dressing for the shows, I never plan out in advance. I wake up and decide what I will wear that day. I just don’t have time to plan ahead too much. It’s a bit more instinctive and reactionary.”

On Skincare…
“I tend to stick to the same regime as it works for me. I use a Shiseido moisturiser, and love the Elizabeth Arden 8hr Cream – I carry it with me. I always carry a lipgloss with me for quick touch-ups on the go.”
