Benedict, the Harrods Annual Christmas Bear 2015

Meet Benedict

Harrods has been selling teddy bears since around 1906; in fact, Harrods' most famous bear is none other than Winnie the Pooh, a teddy bear purchased by A.A. Milne as a Christmas present for his son, Christopher Robin, in 1921.

Since 1986, a specially designed bear has been chosen as the Annual Christmas Bear and this year marks the tradition’s 30th anniversary with Benedict, a handsome white bear dressed in a smart red cardigan. Designed through the decades to tug at our heartstrings, with 1986’s Snow Bear, the 10th Anniversary set of ten miniature teddies in 1995 and 1990’s American Grizzly Bear just a handful of favourites, each one has a special story to tell and makes a wonderful memento from our world-famous department store.

Standing at 30cm, the Annual Christmas Bear 2015 comes with the date embroidered in gold to the pad of his paw. Also available in smaller and larger versions – look out for the lifesize bear! – Benedict graces a wonderful range of Christmas souvenirs including mugs, keyrings, snowglobes and biscuits.
