Burberry London Collections: Men SS15 Show
Signing off the final day of the London Collections: Men Spring Summer 2015 in quintessential style, the key event in the fashion week schedule had to be the Burberry Prorsum show.
Set to the dulcet tones of Benjamin Clementine's live vocal and piano soundtrack, Christopher Bailey expertly delivered yet another vibrantly robust collection, which drew inspiration from the travel writer Bruce Chatwin along with hand-painted typography of vintage English book covers splashed across over-sized satchels.
A collection quintessentially British in its texture and form revealed a more playful edge with a vivid palette of saffron yellows, orange ochres, light coppers, crimson, magenta, storm blue and aqua, countered with more muted shades of olive and vintage greens along with a pared-down parchment hue.
Outerwear was key in the classic trench being re-imagined in somewhat looser silhouettes, while denim jackets, field jackets and duffle coats topped tapered leg trousers and more svelte tailoring, in textures of gabardine, light cottons, cashmere and felt.
Meanwhile, backstage at the show, Burberry make-up artist Wendy Rowe explains the inspiration behind the look: "This season’s look was inspired by travel writer Bruce Chatwin. This man is handsome, travels a lot and has been exposed to the elements."
"Men are a different challenge to women, because the make-up is really refined," Wendy added. "It is undetectable, but adds a uniformity and finish to the look, not that you should notice. Burberry BB Cream and Golden Radiance are ideal for both men and women, as they’re not glittery."
