The Hot Ticket: Chelsea Flower Show
Herbaceous borders have been tidied, the topiary perfected and plants from every corner of the world brought to London; the RHS Chelsea Flower Show is in full bloom.
An event that, for many, signals the start of summer, the Chelsea Flower Show is as glamorous as gardening gets, and this year’s event is no exception.
Highlights include 27-year-old gold medal winner Hugo Bugg’s RBC Waterscape garden (pictured), a poignant First World War-inspired garden created to mark the centenary of the outbreak of war, and Gucci’s tribute to its iconic Flora motif.
Not the first fashion house to put on its gardening gloves, Gucci follows in the footsteps of Chanel and Dior. High fashion and horticulture? Consider the prevalence of nature’s beauty in fashion’s floral prints and botanical tones and it all adds up.
Guaranteed to provide inspiration and surprises aplenty, the Chelsea Flower Show is by no means just for the green fingered. Catch a glimpse of the magic before exhibitors start to sell off the plants at 4:00pm on Saturday 24th May.
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show runs until Saturday 24th May at the Royal Hospital, London.
