The Hot Ticket: Mondrian And His Studios
If not by name, fashion fans will know De Stijl artist Piet Mondrian’s abstract lines and coloured squares thanks to Yves Saint Laurent’s Autumn/Winter 1965 collection, which saw them played out on silk crêpe shift dresses. One of modern art’s greatest influencers, find out more about the artist and his work with a visit to Tate Liverpool’s spectacular exhibition, Mondrian And His Studios.
Marking the 70th anniversary of Mondrian’s death, the exhibition tracks the artist’s life and work through his time spent in Paris, London and New York, with an immersive, life-size reconstruction of his Paris studio being a highlight.
From the Parisian avant-garde to the New York jazz scene, Mondrian’s colourful life proves to be a source of fascination and this exhibition offers a tantalising glimpse at it.
Mondrian and his Studios runs until Sunday 5th October at Tate Liverpool, Merseyside.
