The Hot Ticket: The Summer Exhibition

Held annually since 1769, The Royal Academy of Arts’ Summer Exhibition is a British institution. An open submission exhibition that, this year, saw 12,000 entries whittled down to just over 1,200 works, it is most loved for the sheer variety it offers.

With artworks – paintings, prints, sculpture, films and more – hung from wall to ceiling, many of which are for sale, it’s a game of Guess Who trying to spot the work of high-profile artists, such as Martin Creed, Yinka Shonibare and Jeremy Deller, from that by talented amateurs.

Given the A-list thumbs-up by the likes of Alexa Chung, Laura Bailey and David Gandy at the star-studded private view, it’s a must-see for art enthusiasts and keen collectors alike.

Summer Exhibition 2014 runs from Monday 9th June until Sunday 17st August at The Royal Academy of Arts, London.
