The Hot Ticket: Wedding Dresses 1775-2014
Wedding season is upon us and what better way to embrace it than with a visit to the V&A’s spring exhibition, Wedding Dresses 1775-2014?
Curated across two floors, 80 of the most ravishing and romantic wedding outfits are displayed. Arranged chronologically, you are able to trace the development of the white wedding dress and its interpretation by leading couturiers and designers.
Highlights include the wedding attire of Kate Moss and Jamie Hince (pictured above), the embroidered silk Anna Valentine coat worn by The Duchess of Cornwall, the purple taffeta Vivienne Westwood gown chosen by Dita Von Teese and the Dior outfits worn by Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale.
Accessories including jewellery, shoes, garters and corsetry are also on display as well as millinery by Philip Treacy and Stephen Jones. Plus, get an intimate insight into the big days through fashion sketches, personal photographs, archive film footage and news clippings.
Celebrating the glamour and spectacle of weddings throughout history, this is an exhibition not to be missed. Feeling inspired? Browse our Wedding Style boutique and shop our favourite pieces below.
Wedding Dresses 1775-2014 runs until 15th March 2015 at the V&A, London.
