Harrods Wine

Wine Shop Events 2014

Each month, the Harrods Wine Shop hosts an exciting line-up of wine and spirits tasting events. With experts on hand to offer information and advice, plus gourmet canapés, this is perhaps the most enjoyable way to expand your oenological knowledge.

For more information or to book tickets, please call 020 7893 8777 or email wineshop@harrods.com. Some of these wines have a very limited production, as such, we cannot guarantee that all wines will be available to taste throughout the event. In order to make your experience more enjoyable, please let us know in advance if you will be attending with anyone who suffers from reduced mobility so that we can accommodate them accordingly.

AN INTRODUCTION TO RED BURGUNDY
Date & Time: Tuesday 6th May, from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.
Venue: The Tasting Room, Lower Ground Floor.
Tickets are £100 per person.

Burgundy is home to the finest light red wines in the world. Burgundian reds are made exclusively from the Pinot Noir grape, renowned for its sensitivity and fragile nature in the vineyard. It is one of the hardest grapes to make quality wine from – but it is this very delicacy that allows it to thrive in Burgundy. The subtle differences in soil-type, slope-aspect and temperature around the Burgundy region all influence Pinot Noir in such a way that huge variations in style are possible – all dependent on which sub-region of Burgundy the wine came from. In this intimate tasting, led by an expert from the Harrods team, you will sample eight different red Burgundies and discover how their place of origin has developed the wine’s unique flavour. A selection of themed light snacks will be provided.

AN INTRODUCTION TO WHITE BURGUNDY
Date & Time: Tuesday 29th April from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.
Venue: The Tasting Room, Lower Ground Floor.
Tickets are £100 per person.

The Chardonnay wines of Burgundy are considered the finest white wines in the world. Ranging in styles from the lean and refreshing Chablis to the rich and full-bodied Meursault, there is no other region in the world that can boast such variety and subtlety of flavour from just one single grape. The secret lies in the differing micro-climates and soil-types that make up the Burgundy region; Chardonnay acts as a blank canvas that allows these minute variations to express themselves by affecting the flavour of the final wine. In this intimate tasting you will sample eight different white Burgundies and discover how their place of origin has developed the wine’s unique flavour. A selection of light snacks will also be provided.
