Essential Sportswear: New Must-Have Designers

Leaving the locker room and hitting the runway, high-performance meets high-end this season as athletic shapes get reworked for everyday wear. New to our Harrods menswear portfolio are three brands that combine directional design with athletic inspiration, making pieces that feel as good as they look. Find out why Public School NYC, Y-3 and Marcelo Burlon are your new off-duty favourites...

New to Harrods is Public School NYC, a New York-based brand that elevates streetwear to new heights with its distinctively minimal pieces that have a masculine, athletic appeal and are versatile enough to find a place in any wardrobe. Case in point is the Wool Blend Sweatpants, which we’ll be looking to this spring as an easy-going alternative to traditional tailoring.

Perennial streetwear favourite Y-3 arrives at this season, bringing with it the brand’s unique blend of athletic shapes and fashion-forward thinking. A collaboration between storied Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto and sportswear innovators Adidas, these pieces are essential for anyone looking to update their off-duty portfolio. Watch out for the Fluid Mesh Panel Hoodie: crafted from a high-performance fabric with mesh panelling, this piece will go to and from the gym or out on the weekend with ease.

And anyone in the market for a downtime upgrade can’t miss out on Marcelo Burlon. The Argentina-born, Milan-based designer and DJ is a print expert, creating abstract, energetic collages that stand out against today’s more austere monochrome streetwear. We’ve got our eyes on his Providencia Skull tee - its ultra-soft jersey and unique design make it an easy-to-wear introduction to the designer's frenetic style.
