Ermenegildo Zegna AW21: Tailoring, Reset
Answering the growing appetite for clothes that reflect an agile lifestyle, Ermenegildo Zegna artistic director Alessandro Sartori champions an aesthetic that blurs formal and informal style codes. Relaxed yet refined cuts – easy tailoring and knitwear cast in a muted palette – are the backbone of his Autumn/Winter 2021 collection.
While work and home attire is increasingly interchangeable, the subtleties of fine tailoring and craftsmanship remain at Ermenegildo Zegna. Immaculate suits are softened with dropped shoulders. In place of classic shirts, you’ll find cashmere polos. Earthy hues – browns, forest green – join concrete grey, accented with charges of orange that chime neatly with the autumnal brief.
Alessandro Sartori heralds buying better and slower fashion. At Ermenegildo Zegna, he breathes new life into previously discarded materials, reworking them into striking two-piece suits. Elsewhere, select trousers can double as suit or sweatpants, exemplifying an altogether more resourceful way of wearing clothes.
