3 Print Trends to Introduce into Your Autumn Wardrobe

Even steadfast minimalists know that sometimes, an outfit just needs a strong print. That motto certainly rang true on the Autumn/Winter 2026 runways: the collections were a riot of layering, texture and pattern, with simplicity largely cast aside in favour of an altogether bolder approach. Here’s our guide to the three hero prints of the season and how to incorporate them into your transitional rotation.

Wild Side

Fashion editors have long touted animal print as a neutral, but this season, it’s well and truly the main event. Tom Ford, Bottega Veneta, Balmain, Carolina Herrera and Celine were just a handful of the brands that embraced everything from classic leopard to zebra, snake and cheetah – across both clothing and accessories – in a return to all-out glamour and maximalism. If you’d rather tone things down, pair one key piece with a neutral colour that pulls out one of the print’s shades – think brown, beige or even a golden yellow.

Dark Florals

Florals were big news this summer, and they’re not going anywhere. Just make the swap from delicate pastels and painterly brights to something a little more autumn-appropriate: think darker tones (as seen at Givenchy and Ralph Lauren), florals rendered in gothic embroidery (props to Erdem) or romantic brooches and appliqués (à la Jonathan Anderson’s Dior). As for whether to lighten the mood with a white T-shirt or lean into the seasonal spirit with heavy leather? That’s entirely up to you.

Check Mate

For the second year in a row, heritage checks were a steadfast fashion-week fixture. Chanel, Dior, Chloé and (of course) Burberry all showed the traditional-skewing pattern across tailored outerwear in mostly muted tones of grey, making a case for your AW26 workwear wardrobe. As for how to wear the trend while it’s still too warm for wool? Channel a little ’90s grunge with an oversized plaid shirt layered over a mini skirt.
