Paving the way for the return of refined, feminine style, Manolo Blahnik revived the allure of the stiletto in the 1970s, when platform shoes were at the forefront of fashion. Learning the art of shoemaking by visiting factories and watching pattern cutters and technicians at work, Manolo’s designs were picked up by designer Ossie Clark, catapulting him onto the London fashion scene. From iconic appearances in film and television to a whole host of honours from the CFDA and British Fashion Council, core styles such as the brooch-embellished Nadira and Hangisi pumps in jewel-tone brights are joined by complementary clutch bags and considered shoes for men.
