When 21-year-old Thomas Burberry, a draper’s assistant, opened his own store in Basingstoke, England, in 1856, little did he know his name would become a British fashion legacy. Focusing on outdoor attire, Burberry supplied WWI officers with coats to protect them in the trenches, and the iconic ‘trench coat’ was born. Today, Burberry’s signature design is joined by a line-up of contemporary pieces for men, women and children, at the hand of President and Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey.
