Mark Cross

Founded in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1845, the Mark Cross brand originally produced carriage saddles and harnesses. After a period of international expansion and the introduction of fine china and crystal, Gerald Murphy took over the company in 1934. Producing luggage, cigarette cases and luxe jewelled evening bags, some of the designs were created in collaboration with renowned American jeweller, Seamen Schepps. Today, the brand’s aesthetic is inspired by the vintage archives, which have been modernised and improved. One of the brand’s most popular designs – the Grace box bag – was originally created by Gerald Murphy for Grace Kelly's role in Alfred Hitchcock’s film Rear Window. Today it is an instantly-recognisable design in myriad colours.
