Italian glamour and decadence lie at the heart of Bulgari. Founded in Rome in 1884 by Sotirio Bulgari, a Greek jeweller who moved to Italy, Bulgari has grown to become one of the world’s most famous jewellery brands. Now renowned for its opulent pieces that combine classical and modern elements, the brand’s origins are much humbler. Until 1905, Bulgari worked with only gold and silver, and took inspiration from the classical Greek and Roman eras; this can still be seen in the collections of the house today, particularly Monete.

Bulgari is synonymous with Rome – where the headquarters are still based – and has expanded to count watchmaking expertise, luxury accessories and philanthropy as pillars of the house.

  • The Serpenti
  • Serpenti has since been reimagined as bracelets, necklaces and rings, while the original watch has had myriad reincarnations. The collection has become a touchstone of the house, with each year heralding a different gemstone finish to symbolise a serpent shedding its skin.

  • Bulgari Octo
  • The success of the Octo has gone on to advance Bulgari watchmaking, the launch of the Octo Finissimo and Octo Roma watches reinforcing the collection.
