Power Pieces: The Charlotte Olympia Kitty Flat

The designer to turn to if ever you’re in need of a sartorial pick-me-up, Charlotte Olympia is renowned for her ability to balance fashion with a sense of fun, and with the Kitty flat she struck gold.
First introduced as part of the Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, which was inspired by Agatha Christie novels from the Thirties, the designer explains: "The idea was to take the classic velvet smoking slipper typically worn by gentlemen in that era and to create something more feminine and playful." And so, the high vamp took on a cat ear silhouette and the traditional monogram was replaced with an embroidered cat face.
It was love at first sight for Alexa Chung, who championed the Kitty flats from the word go and continues to wear them off-duty and on the red carpet.

"The beauty of the Kitty flats is that they can be dressed up or dressed down," says Charlotte. "Whether you're at the office, running around after your kids in the park or at an elegant dinner party – they can be styled to complement your look."
