With Sandro founders Evelyne and Didier Chétrite for parents and an aunt in Maje's Judith Milgrom, there can be no denying that fashion is in Ilan Chétrite’s blood. The Artistic Director of Sandro Homme since its launch in 2008, we caught up with the Parisian designer to talk fashion, family and style influences...
"Sandro is like a brother to me! I have always been surrounded by fashion; watching my mother and father, and my aunt. When I was younger I wasn’t interested in joining the brand at all – I actually studied economics and saw myself more as a trader."
"My involvement in Sandro began when the womenswear range started to have great success. I immediately told myself this brand should not only talk to women but to everyone. Then I started to imagine in which way our vision could be understood. I wanted to offer men an alternative between fast fashion and luxury. I wanted the Sandro customer’s husband to find something he could wear at Sandro."
"Everybody is welcome! As a brand we propose our collection to every active, uninhibited man who doesn’t want to feel dressed up but who has a thirst for elegance and contemporary style."
"We provide timeless pieces with straight lines and classic tailoring."Ilan Chétrite
"A leather jacket, a well-cut suit and an oversized piece of outerwear, such as a trench coat, a parka or a pea coat."
"We embrace the value of elegance - true to our Parisian DNA - when we create our collections. We provide timeless pieces with straight lines and classic tailoring with a chic, cool, modern twist."
"Everyone from my grandfather, who was a major style icon when I was growing up, to an unknown person in the street."
