Antonio Berardi creates clothes that make women look – and therefore, feel – confident, powerful and resolutely feminine. The masterful cuts, his gift with fabric’s wefts and wafts – it's hardly surprising that the designer is a red-carpet go-to for the A-list. For Autumn/Winter 2017, he was inspired by Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth and the Highlands of Scotland: chunky knits and full skirts, peplums, jacquard suits, tied or belted waists and black eyelash lace atop romantically-draped, nude pink dresses… the silhouettes heading down the runway meant business, especially the blue, puff-sleeve confection with a billowing, parachute-like skirt and a velvet, embellished top – a dress highlight.

The strongest looks incorporated outerwear, with oversize funnel necks, cropped pea coat-like shapes, statement collars and visible drawstrings comprising to create details that only someone who knows how important the 'right coat' is, could make. In moody tones of navy and midnight blue, purple, gold, black and deep red, the collection provided Shakespeare-worthy drama aplenty.
