Staying true to his fun aesthetic, Markus Lupfer delivered another playful collection for Spring/Summer 2017. What motifs made it into next season’s wardrobe, I hear you ask? Rabbits: on sheer dresses, blouses, pleated skirts and more. And where rabbits weren’t taking centre stage, pretty botanical prints stepped in, along with a healthy dose of stripes.
Next year, the Markus Lupfer girl is wearing pleated midi skirts with jumpers or anoraks – sometimes lacy, sometimes high-gloss, but never dull – because she knows that English weather is wholly unreliable and she wants to stay dry but stylish.
Whether orange on pink, or baby blue on grey, colours were very complementary, with spring-ready blooms making their way onto pale pink and navy, while navy and red stripes bedecked an array of easy, wearable dresses and separates – all worn with accompanying chains around the waist (the hardware store kind) and sheer socks with sliders or sneakers, to create an almighty clash.
