Drawing inspiration from ‘80s cult movie Beetlejuice with a collection entitled 'I Myself, Am Strange And Unusual,' Autumn/Winter 2016 at Sophia Webster mused upon the movie’s heroine, Lydia Deetz (played by Winona Ryder, of course), and played heavily on gothic romance, but with Webster's signature twist of optimism.

Yes there was a dark side, with plenty of black lace-effect detail weaving its way up the leg to create thigh-high, butterfly-adorned lattice stockings, but flashes of red velvet and sheer mesh on bejewelled platforms, Mary-Janes and stiletto booties kept it lighthearted and playful. Butterflies were a key motif, fluttering across booties, spreading their wings on the backs of heels, gilded into golden sandals and clustered around the ankles. And, true to Tim Burton form, bridal played into the collection, giving the Corpse Bride a more tongue-in-cheek edge with 'Wifey For Lifey' adorning clutches and emblazoned on the soles of shoes.
