London Fashion Week

Temperley London SS16

Celebrating its 15th year and 26th runway show, Temperley London dazzled crowds with a collection entitled 'Havana' that was feminine, colourful and ready to be taken on holiday. "A relaxed modern Bohemia," noted Alice Temperley MBE, and relaxed it certainly was. Palm leaves and tropical flowers came printed and embroidered onto trailing maxi skirts and summer dresses in their many iterations – off-the-shoulder, ruffled, flare-sleeved – appeared on the runway in a palette of lime greens, oceanic blues, sorbet pinks and deep tobacco, all evoking the eclectic interiors and back streets of Havana.

The highlight of the collection, however, was certainly the eveningwear, which celebrated texture, embellishment and a far-off, glamour-filled summer; faceted sequins, tassels and mirrored discs adorned dresses, slouchy vests and skirts, while exotic birds came printed on satin jacquard with full ruffles and acid yellow accents. Looks were paired with wide-brimmed Panama hats on top of low-slung messy ponytails and handmade leather-soled sandals, which are sure to be seen on many feet come next summer.
