Dressy is in this season, so the Alberta Ferretti girl will feel right at home. Opening her Autumn/Winter 2016 show with a backdrop of a frosty forest, the designer's models emerged from the mist in myriad an after-hours number.
Kicking off with chartreuse satin jumpsuits with lace detailing, these looked as comfortable as pyjamas but had all the high-octane glamour of a red carpet gown. Velvet is making a serious comeback and here it appeared on louche suits and slip dresses in shades of nude and fawn. Meanwhile, embroidery adorned whispy slip dresses for a nymph-meets-boudoir look – even day dresses were embellished over their structured façades.
There is no escaping a good fur coat this season – here they appeared as shaggy cocoons enveloping the bodies and contrasting the lingerie-style looks beneath. Capes are also having a renaissance and came hooded and embroidered for a fairy tale feel. For a designer that doesn't traditionally do trends, Ferretti has ticked all the right boxes for a luxuriously dressed-up season with her highly-textured collection.
