Attending the seasonal Dolce & Gabbana show is a bit like attending an Italian Sunday lunch – Sunday best attire, families gathering together, air kisses flying about, goblets of wine distributed after the show...
This season it was even more of a family affair, with the brand's world-wide influencers and their nearest and dearest acting as models. To the vocals of singer Austin Mahone, Amanda and Jason Harvey opened the show with their babes in arms, Andrea Dellal led daughters Charlotte Olympia Dellal and Alice Dellal and niece Harley Viera Newton down the runway, gorgeous husband-and-wife duo Neels and Kendall Visser shimmered in their after-hours attire, plus the likes of Pamela Anderson cheered on son Brandon from the front row.
Clothing-wise it was a feast for the eyes, with something for every taste, shape and age. A black corset dress worn with trainers downplayed its sexiness while the humble white shirt received the renaissance treatment courtesy of ruched balloon sleeves. Cropped tuxedo jackets adorned with floral corsages came above sheer knife-pleated skirts and leopard print appeared in every guise – on gauzy tiered maxi-dresses, double-breasted pant suits and silk robes that doubled as outerwear.
Calling on the space theme that appeared on the invitations, midi dresses with slim sleeves featured printed solar systems and rockets while the princess gowns that have enchanted us for several seasons now were embroidered with sequins for a classic but bewitching take on eveningwear.
Men, women, kids, mums, daughters, sisters, cousins, husbands, wives... everyone was invited to this out-of-this-world spectacle.
