Inspired by a dancer's wardrobe, Veronica Etro's collection for Spring/Summer 2016 looked to antique Eastern European costumes and the Bohemian craftsmanship of the South of France. The result was a line-up of floaty and graceful dresses in a palette of ballet nudes with the odd rich purple or red hue woven into the mix.
Peasant-style silk frocks featured bodices around the middle, lace-up backs and demure midi lengths on their plissé skirts. Embellishment came in the way of ribbons and silver lace on their asymmetrical tiers, and Etro's signature prints took the shape of paisleys blossoming into florals in shades of apricot, mauve, prune and black. There were more modern pieces in the parade, too – jogging pants and bomber jackets, perfect for off-duty, symbolised the dancer's warm-up attire. Lace-up slippers, drawstring pouches and jangly earrings finished off the ethereal looks.
