Stripes, chevrons, checks; pattern was the order of the day at Fendi for Spring/Summer 2018. Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi cited Italian Futurism and the Caribbean – not an obvious pairing – as their starting points, but what played out most obviously was an ode to cut and colour, with sheer fabrics called upon to allow the layering up of both.

From Kaia Gerber's opening look – a perfectly tailored jacket, nipped in at the waist, and paired with a full, midi-length skirt – to the more fluid summer dresses and square-cut, wide-collar shirts, whether in stretch-organza, satin or fur, and even down to the ankle-high socks and heels (as seen on a number of runways this season), colour – terracotta, teal, sage, peach and a medley of blues – came out on top.

The bags, as ever, were a highlight, too, with the Caribbean influence inspiring rattan-handled mesh shopper bags that are bound for Instagram fame.
