Milan Fashion Week

Missoni AW16

Missoni AW16-Milan Fashion Week

A vibrant energy punctuated the Autumn/Winter 2016 collection at Missoni with a sense of renewed vigour; fitting given the fashion house’s recent exhibition at the MA*GA museum in Gallarate, Missoni Art Colour – an exploration into the creative processes of the house and the textiles of Ottavio and Rosita Missoni.

For Creative Director Angela Missoni, having those time-honoured traditions of her family’s heritage and taking them for a fresh new spin down the runway was no mean feat, but was executed with style and finesse by propelling forward rather than diverting down the reminiscent retro route.

Skinny, floor-sweeping scarves were a standout element, while thick-knit beanie hats and socks with sandals framed the looks. The looks themselves featured kaleidoscopic coats, blanket wraps, jackets and suits - all knitted, of course, while light-as-a-feather fringed lurex metallic dresses and ultra-long flares wafted down the runway marking a more fun and playful approach.
