Like most designers this season, feminism was on Angela Missoni's mind. Inspired by the pink morning light of the Monte Rosa mountain near the Creative Director's home, Missoni was on a mission to "communicate the femininity of our times, to confront the conflicts and dilemmas of our contemporary society – the conditions, needs and rights of all women and minorities."
What does this message translate into, clothes-wise? Skinny knitted dresses and ribbed trousers in pink and purple stripes, fluffy maxi jumpers in white mohair and long, loose cardigans fit for the ultimate alpine getaway. Beyond the label's knack for cool colour combinations lies its ability to combine fabric techniques such as macro-ribbing and pleating to create a silhouette that is figure-flattering yet shapely.
Following the show Angela Missoni, her models and extended family stepped onto the runway, inviting showgoers to join them as a symbol of solidarity in uncertain political times. That everybody did so, wearing pink beanie hats with kitty ears (provided on each seat alongside an organic lunch and cold-press juice), made for a jovial and uplifting gathering.
