Roberto Cavalli AW16

Roberto Cavalli Autumn/Winter 2016 - Milan Fashion Week Getty

In what he called "an ode to the louche," for Peter Dundas’ second collection back at Roberto Cavalli, romantic, gilded figurines of Art Nouveau artists were taken to the dark side of the moon and reconstructed into ‘70s glam rock chicks; boho in its form yes, but far more opulent than that in execution.

Infused with the most wonderfully extravagant of Italian artisanal techniques, baroque embroidery, tiger-striped velvet, tailored silks and intarsia fur were layered up with scarves, atop coats and upon dresses and flares, while his final flourish – a sheer gossamer dress of spider-web crystals – was not for the faint-hearted.
