Versace's not-so-secret weapon has always been its supermodels. Linda, Christy, Claudia, Cindy, Naomi – these were women who knew how to move in shrunken sweaters, glossy leather jackets and micro minis. For her Autumn/Winter 2016 runway unveiling, Donatella called on today's It girls; Karlie, Jourdan, Maria Carla, Gigi, Kendall, Lineisy, to strut their stuff in a line-up of curve-skimming utility jackets, sporty, colour-block dresses and, of course, micro minis, all in a palette of navy and powder blue pepped up with lime green, orange and salmon pink.
Long-sleeve dresses boasted zig-zag cut-outs (representing shards of glass) in contrasting shades while suits came splashed with printed, multi-coloured versions of the same jagged designs. Overall, the aesthetic was athletic and favoured daywear over eveningwear, but with over 60 looks in the collection (practically each one modelled by a super), there is sure to be something for everyone.
