New York Fashion Week

Alexander Wang AW17

Surely no New York designer loves a party more than Alexander Wang, his runway shows have been known to turn into one before the last model has even completed the finale; but for Autumn/Winter 2017 he made a point of not throwing one, taking his bow wearing a sweatshirt emblazoned with the words, 'No After-Party'. While the front row - Zoë Kravitz and Sofia Richie included – and model line-up – Kendall, Bella, Lexi et al – might have been briefly disappointed, at least they left in the knowledge that their partywear wardrobes wouldn’t suffer the same fate next season.

For Wang left the bare-faced siren of Spring/Summer 2017 at the beach to serve his faithful club kids exactly what they want: figure-skimming jumpsuits, leather skinnies, band T-shirts, mesh mini dresses and more besides. While a few tailored elements – albeit spliced with sweatshirting – including some key Prince of Wales check pieces (which broke up the otherwise all-black palette) hinted at a slight maturing of the traditional Wang girl, with fringing, studs and rhinestones for detailing, she still has the requisite edge.
