Hervé Léger AW16

Demonstrating that you can never have too much of a good thing, Hervé Léger Creative Directors Max and Lubov Azria revamped the ever-recognisable bandage dress for Autumn/Winter 2016 with surprising results. With a bit more length and a bit less bodycon, you wouldn’t think this was the figure-sculpting style hero that has adorned many an A-lister since it was first pioneered in the ‘80s.

Now hitting just above the knee, iterations of the dress were masterfully designed to appear as though pieces of bandage were cascading from the hem. When bandages weren’t falling in ribbons, hems were mostly A-line or midi-skater. Fabrics were kept interesting; tartan and tweed made autumn-perfect appearances while chain embellishment and scatterings of eyelets took hardware by storm. Burgundy, grey, dusty blue and black kept the palette looking suitable moody for AW16.
