Ornate, detailed and whimsical are just some of the words that come to mind when describing Marchesa’s Autumn/Winter 2016 show. Swathes of tulle, embroidered lace, lustrous satin and velvet made their way down the runway in an evening-ready palette of red, gold, black, dusty pink, light peach and cloud blue.
So dream-like are Marchesa’s gowns this season, it will be hard to stop at just one. Whether floor-length and layered, or cut to expose shoulders and the décolletage, just-above-the-knee length and long-sleeved, or full-skirted with a halter-style neckline, the brand’s founders Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have ensured that the Marchesa woman feels glamorous to the max. And how are we accessorising gowns for AW16? With chandelier earrings and super-opulent necklaces, of course.
