'Urbane Luxe' was how Michael Kors branded his Autumn/Winter 2017 show, which proved to be a symphony of textures as chunky knits, sparkly dresses, herringbone blazers and sumptuous furs united on the most stellar of model line-ups. From veterans Carolyn Murphy and Amber Valletta to It-Girls Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, cool chicks Edie Campbell and Mica Arganaraz to new Supers Taylor Hill and Imaan Hammam, a range of ages and ethnicities were represented on the runway, proof positive that there is something for everyone from Michael Kors this season – even the boys.
The juxtaposition of masculine and feminine has long been Kors' calling card. This time around it was reimagined with softly draped dresses and blouses paired with mannish coats with strong shoulders in a chic city palette of black, cream, chocolate and camel. A flash of thigh on skirts and dresses upped the feminine factor and trousers came with high waists to enhance the female form. For night, dresses in molten silver and gold lamé or encrusted with paillettes shimmered down the runway. And if the borrowed-from-the-boys look is your thing, the boys' pea coats and puffer jackets were perfect in every way.
To finish, it's still about being hands-free (how else are you going to apply that special Michael Kors Snapchat filter created just for the show?) so messengers and backpacks were the order of the day.
