New York Fashion Week

Milly SS16

Milly SS16-New York Fashion Week

Never was a shirt so versatile as when it walked down the Milly Spring/Summer 2016 runway. Designer Michelle Smith showed the unassuming piece of structured cotton in as many iterations as possible, from off-the-shoulder tops to fit-and-flare shirt dresses to collared and cut-away minis – the idea was all about taking something minimal and commonplace and making it romantic in a modern way.

Elsewhere, apron dresses, trapeze tops, culottes and overalls ticked all the trend boxes, while sunset shades were splattered on feminine, sculpted dresses. And where a garment looked plain at the front, it was pleasingly interesting at the back – clever cut-outs, shoestring straps and deep plunges will all ensure your exit is as memorable as your entrance.
