New York Fashion Week

Rag & Bone AW16

Change is in the air for fashion, with the talk at New York Fashion Week centring on unrealistic design schedules and the concept of ‘see now, buy now'. At Rag & Bone change came with the incorporation of the menswear line into the womenswear show; not just one or two looks peppered in as per many a designer, but 35 to be precise – i.e. an entire collection.

Brit designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville executed this by parading girls on an outside line and boys on an inner line, marching to the live drumbeats of Atom For Peace. Of course, looks were complementary, with oversized parkas, knitted bomber jackets, leather biker pants and checked shirts appearing in both line-ups. Denim was where the brand began so it was only natural for it to feature heavily – this season is all about raw, stiff jeans with peg legs and oversized turn-ups. For the women, they featured under check dresses that were loosely tied at the waist.

After a brief foray in what can only be described as workwear territory, the boys have brought their line back into sharp focus with this incredibly cohesive collection.
