New season, new silhouette for Amy Smilovic at Tibi. With wearability and everyday elegance entrenched in the brand’s DNA, the waist took prominence for Spring/Summer 2017: cinched with D-ring belts, tucked in pencil skirts and minis and even bared, at times, with bandeau tops and blazers, or at its most extreme with a simple corset topping a blouse.
Despite a nod to the Edwardian era from which the designer revealed she drew inspiration, the collection didn’t stray too far from the Tibi mark however, demo-ing how in today’s fast-paced times, more equals less in the effortlessness stakes, through an array of easy-on-the-eye midi dresses with charming bell-sleeves in lemon, white and sage shades.
And it’s exactly that simplicity of those key pieces working hard in our daily wardrobes that keeps Tibi on point in the noisy New York scene each season. It may not have the hype and the pomp of some of its contemporaries, but it has that instant need-to-own-now shoppability in abundance.
