New York Fashion Week

Tory Burch AW16

Tory Burch Autumn/Winter 2016 - New York Fashion Week

Everyone, designer and non, is taking inspiration from the streets these days, including Tory Burch, who looked to the ease and nonchalance of street style for her Autumn/Winter 2016 collection, which paid homage to the Parisian café scene in Eric Rohmer's 1972 film, L'Amour l'Apres-Midi.

While silhouettes remained clean and sporty (polo necks and jodhpurs were a nod to Burch's love of riding), the colour palette was anything but minimal. Diamond prints in contrasting shades of purple, red and yellow were splashed on wool coats and slim knits. Meanwhile paisley or chain prints featured on silk georgette dresses for a more boho, Seventies vibe.

Layering was key to the line-up with polo necks worn under wool jackets or shearling jackets and bombers topping knitted sweaters. As New York temperatures soared from deep arctic freeze to mild and wet in a matter of days, this was a tip worth adopting now.
