For Spring/Summer 2017 Tory Burch was inspired by the principles of East Coast and West Coast living, from "hostess chic to cool prep". And who better to make that statement than the hostess with the mostest, who greeted A-List guests Jessica Alba, Derek Blasberg, Liya Kebede and the industry's top influencers, from Manrepeller's Leandra Medine to Pernille Teisbaek and her burgeoning baby bump, with steaming coffees and iced teas ahead of her 9am show at The Whitney Museum in the Meatpacking District.
Fashion-wise it was the perfect clash of two extremes, often on the same outfit – kaftans worn with the pearls, burlap blazers worn over cotton voile tops, piped cardigans topping batik printed dresses. The designer confirmed: "It's about contrast: graphic motifs and engineered prints, rope and rickrack, mules and moccasins... Structured and bohemian ease." Whichever side of the spectrum one falls, it was about quintessential style and pure Tory.
