"This season was about bringing a new approach that for me is fresh and liberating... Diverse and fluid, it reflects my life now and the crossing and connecting of different environments and experiences," read Victoria Beckham's Spring/Summer 2016 show notes. Indeed the whole aura of her show space, Cipriani Wall Street, reflected a serene summer scene: sorbet-hued benches, ombré yellow seating placards and iced peppermint tea for guests.
On the runway, pristine white dresses were revved-up with pops of red on shoulder straps and pockets while checks appeared on midi shifts and peplum tunics teamed with ivory pencil skirts that carried on the check motif in side pleating. Shell tops and midi skirts came stamped with wave prints complete with surfer silhouettes, while suede separates united earthy tones with electric shades.
Accessories-wise, looks were teamed with flat-form sandals or pointy slippers while bags were slouchy, oversized and half-moon shaped, in sharp contrast to the rigid, boxy shapes of the past. The superstar designer affirmed: "These are clothes to be interpreted by the individual and worn with freedom and a carefree attitude."
