Elie Saab AW16

"The mood of the Autumn/Winter 2016 collection depicts the elusive, melodic dance between feminine and fierce, grounded and free," Elie Saab revealed in his show notes. The designer isn't one to spark trends – he sticks to what he does best, which is ultra-glamorous eveningwear, this season crafted out of guipure and fishnet lace on sweeping black gowns, their volumes skimming the models' bodies in all their bohemian elegance.
To contrast the inky numbers came shorter, brighter dresses in red, purple and topaz, occasionally splashed with muted polka dots or abstract prints. Daywear, which seems to grow with each season, consisted of layered sports-inspired separates made of the most luxurious of fabrics – velvet and brocade skirts and jackets adorned with silk and leather fringing.
