Lanvin AW16

Although the fashion world wasn’t quite ready for Alber Elbaz’s departure from the house he helmed for 14 years, there was a frisson of excitement as Chemena Kamali, who hails from Chloé, and Lucio Finale – the brand’s womenswear and accessories designers, respectively – unveiled the Autumn/Winter 2016 Lanvin line-up.

Undoubtedly, the Lanvin imprint was there – tuxedo jackets that were either sliced to a crop or elongated boyfriend style, ruffled blouses and satin dresses. New was a more casual colour palette and silhouette – slouchy check trousers in fawn and salopette dresses did feel more Chloé than Lanvin. Whether these will become part of the maison’s new look or the ideas will become more consolidated next season is still to be seen.
