Miu Miu AW16

Rounding off Paris Fashion Week was a celeb-tastic Miu Miu show, with the likes of Gigi Hadid and Lara Stone on the runway and Chloë Sevigny and Emily Ratajkowski on the front row. Having put out a critically-acclaimed Prada show the previous week in Milan, Miuccia Prada brought her layering principles to her second line, with denim taking centre stage: an embroidered jean jacket over a cotton puffball dress, a chambray shirt with a starchy white poplin collar, a full-length denim coat over a fluted denim maxi-skirt… The combinations were endless and decadent when adorned with luxe accents, including jewelled badges and velvet belts.
From there, things got romantic, as floral brocade maxi skirts were teamed with Argyle knits, prairie blouses came under waxed field jackets and tweed coats and herringbone blazers featured mink sleeves. It was a contemporary twist on the English manor look that tends to crop up every autumn/winter season, but handled by Miuccia it felt fresh and exciting.
