Paris Fashion Week

Stella McCartney SS17

Taking the stance that a collection designed for movement needed that little something more than the usual turn down the runway allows, in true Stella McCartney form, for the Spring/Summer 2017 finale, her squad threw shapes, busting out all the fist pumps and shimmies possible. Carefully choreographed as a total social media moment – there have been a few of those this season – sure enough it was Instagrammed, Snapchatted and tweeted from every angle, revealing that at the crux of this collection it really was all about wearability and having fun with fashion.

Showcasing the cause closest to Stella’s heart – cruelty-free style – there were slogan prints galore announcing 'Thanks Girls', 'No Fur' and 'Animal Free', while her trademark tailoring took on a new, carefree attitude with a striped shirt spliced open at the back and relaxed corset detailing on tops and jackets executed in cotton and set off against the paper bag waistline of the slouchy soft trousers. Jumpsuits, denim and even nonchalant natural blankets took their turn down the runway, while soft khaki, earthy tones and deep blue took the feminine edge off a season somewhat saturated in pink. A nod perhaps to what’s coming next at the fashion house: her debut menswear line, set to be unveiled in November.
