Anglepoise

Widely viewed as one of today's most innovative design feats, automotive engineer George Carwardine created a new spring system in 1932, establishing the blueprint for British label Anglepoise's practical array of lighting solutions. Discovering that pivoting arms supported by a network of springs could be simply repositioned, the Original 1227 lamp was born. Proudly featured on Royal Mail stamps alongside other iconic British designs, Carwardine’s initial four-spring construction has since been adapted under Sir Kenneth Grange who took the helm in 2003. Calling the Angleposie a “minor miracle of balance”, the label's range now includes giant and miniature iterations of the signature lamp, adapted with innovative colourways and practical tweaks that make it perfect for both contemporary and classic interiors.
