Fendi

Fendi is one of Italy's few longstanding family-run fashion houses, still firmly entrenched in its founders’ – Adele and Edoardo Fendi – commitment to artisanal craftsmanship and imaginative furriery. Boasting an impressive legacy, the company expanded into the realm of ready-to-wear in the 1970s under the creative direction of the late Karl Lagerfeld, he cementing the brand’s signature neutral palette during a boundary-pushing, 54-year tenure. As for accessories, now an empire in their own right, the iconic Baguette and Peekaboo bags are considered cult classics of our time, both designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi: the sole family member to still work at the fashion institution.

    Since its launch in 1997, the Fendi Baguette bag has been reworked into more than 1,000 iterations. The style – designed to be tucked tightly under the arm like the French loaf it was named after – is set to be exhibited at the V&A museum in April 2020. It’s achieved cult status, thanks to a little help from Sex and the City, and if it’s good enough for Carrie Bradshaw, it’s good enough for us.
