Tattoo artistry might not be the type of thing that makes your average haute horologist tick, but Hublot – the Swiss manufacture known for its singular, disruptive and innovative approach – is not your average watchmaker. The brand’s partnership with Maxime Plescia-Büchi, founder of tattoo and creative studio Sang Bleu, centres around symmetrical geometric lines – Maxime’s signature and a nod to Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, doing away with traditional watch hands entirely. 

Most watch manufactures have a few time-honoured models in their line-up, but Breitling’s Navitimer, which has been flying high for nearly 70 years, is a true icon. Its functionality is a large part of its long-lasting appeal: it’s a favourite among pilots due to its unparalleled ability to accurately measure flight time and fuel requirements. But even those with their feet firmly on the ground can appreciate its latest iteration – the Automatic 35 features a beaded bezel, a mother-of-pearl dial and diamond hour markers, and is powered by the COSC-certified (signifying precision) Breitling Caliber 17.

The H. Moser & Cie Venturer Concept watch might appear minimalist on the surface, but you’d be wrong to assume its simplicity. Its dramatic dial is made from Vantablack – the blackest material known to man, comprised of millions of carbon nanotubes that absorb 99.9% of visible light. On the reverse, through a sapphire crystal caseback, the Venturer Concept’s inner workings can be appreciated – an intricate HMC 327 hand-wound movement, plus the clever addition of a concealed power reserve.
