Dennis Basso Spring Summer 2015 show New York Fashion Week

Dennis Basso SS15

For SS15, Dennis Basso was inspired by the luxury resorts of the Mediterranean in the Sixties...

"Flipping day and eveningwear, so that by day his girls are in long dresses and by night in '60s-inspired shorts, ensured the collection was fun, vibrant, and über luxe."

Helen David, Harrods Fashion Director of Womenswear

Dennis Basso dedicated his Spring/Summer show to his dear friend, the late, great Joan Rivers, whose acerbic fashion critique would only have had great things to say about the collection, we're sure. Inspired by the luxury resorts of the Mediterranean in the Sixties, "when women wore short shorts for evening and long gowns for daytime," the line-up boasted jewelled tunics teamed with hot pants, crop tops and capri pants in rose gold, playsuits in crisp jacquards, floaty chiffon dresses and carpet-sweeping gowns festooned with hand-embroidered petals. Topped with shorn mink swing coats and alligator jackets, these were couture-worthy pieces destined for the likes of Porto Cervo.

Who we saw: The legendary Ivana Trump and Eighties supermodel, Carol Alt.

What they wore: A leopard print mini dress and sky-high black strappy sandals for Ivana, and a strapless embellished dress for Carol.

In three words: Sumptuous summer sophistication.
