Harrods Presents Inside The Studio
For Harrods Inside The Studio, four of Britain's top designers, Matthew Williamson, Rupert Sanderson, Antonio Berardi and Alice Temperley offer an exclusive access-all-areas glimpse into a day in the life of a busy fashion house, each charting a collection from concept to creation.
Talking all things British fashion and sharing their personal journeys into the industry, each designer teams up with Harrods for an exclusive individual film, in partnership with the British Fashion Council.
"All eyes are on Britain - it has a really unique fashion sense. The British Fashion Council is extremely strong - they're supporting young designers with lots of new initiatives to really help their businesses take off - not just to be creative but also commercially savvy" - Alice Temperley.
Sharing his take on British style, Antonio Berardi says: "It's irreverent, it's free, it doesn't necessarily look like it's British, but it's exciting enough for you to know it's British. People come here to see new ideas, to see things that are unexpected."
And for shoe designer Rupert Sanderson; "British style has a strong sense of identity - through centuries of evolution distilled down. There's just such a wide wealth of references."
When it comes to their daily inspiration, each designer reveals a glamorous muse who encapsulates their brand DNA. On his muse, Artistic Director Georgie MacIntyre, Matthew Williamson shares: "We both have the same common goal - that synthesis and same dual energy. But we both have different strengths, I know what Georgie's good at and she appreciates what I'm good at."
Four bloggers and four media partners were also invited to attend and partner up with the designers. Matthew Williamson teams with Harpers Bazaar UK and DisneyRollerGirl, Rupert Sanderson with Grazia UK and Girl A La Mode, Antonio Berardi with 10 Magazine and Park & Cube, and Temperley London with Vogue UK and Coco's Tea Party.
Backstage on the Matthew Williamson shoot, Navaz Batliwalla of DisneyRollerGirl says: "I’m obsessed with designers’ creative processes, it’s something we rarely get to see. So this 360 Inside The Studio campaign is a real treat because it gives us a closer look into the methods of such a varied group of designers. It’s a sincere and valuable insight into an industry that’s so different from any other."
