5 Minutes With Harrods Live Winner, Sean
Fashion blogger Sug Sean won the Harrods Live Catwalk Competition public vote thanks to his unique take on sports-inspired, urban menswear. A champion of eclectic prints and designer labels, we caught up with Sean to talk style icons, shopping at Harrods and his penchant for vintage MCM.
Congratulations on winning the Harrods Live Catwalk Competition! What was the experience like? I had a lot of fun, it was a cool day. I was one of the only guys there and I didn’t think my sportswear would be as cool as everyone thought it was. Maybe that’s what made me stand out.
Have you always been interested in fashion? I was in the culinary industry before, but I got involved [in fashion] online and met a lot of cool people; they introduced me to everything, taught me how to shop, how to dress.
Where do you get your inspiration from? Mostly from friends and brands; I really like Givenchy, Versace and there’s a brand called Hood by Air which is one of my favourites.
Who are your style icons? Tom Ford and Pharrell Williams.
How would you describe your everyday style? Sneakers! I’ve got loads! Usually a pair of trainers, jeans, interesting shirts and a really nice jacket.
Do you have a starting point when you get dressed in the morning? I just throw it all on! Usually I’m late and I’m still in bed so I just grab stuff.
What would you say is your fashion signature? Loads of MCM! I’m a big fan and I collect them - I have 16 pieces, including some vintage ones.
What style tips would you give for men who might be intimidated by catwalk fashion and want to experiment? If your best friend says it doesn’t look good, still wear it!
Your prize was a Harrods Gift Card – what have you got your eye on? My dog just ate my Louis Vuitton sunglasses, so I’m going to buy a brand new pair of Evidences and I just got a pair of PVC jeans by Billionaire Boys Club. I love shopping at Harrods – it’s like a fashion show in a store and everyone gets to be a model.
Rounding off the interview in true digital style, Sean insisted on a quick selfie before he was whisked away to choose his must-have pieces for SS14: shop Sean’s edit below.
